Diese ÖNORM ist für die Planung von Heizungsanlagen anzuwenden und gilt für den Wärmeträger Wasser und für frostgeschützte Wärmeträger bis zu einer maximalen Betriebstemperatur <= 110 °C (Absicherungstemperatur). Bei Heizungsanlagen mit höheren Betriebstemperaturen als 110 °C sind andere Sicherheitsaspekte als in Abschnitt 9 angegeben, zu berücksichtigen. Für solche Anlagen ist unter anderem das Kesselgesetz zu berücksichtigen. Die übrigen Abschnitte sind jedoch auch für diese Anlagen zutreffend. Kältemittelkreisläufe sind nicht Bestandteil dieser Norm. Hier wird auf die Kälteanlagenverordnung verwiesen. Diese ÖNORM ergänzt die ÖNORM EN 12828 und gilt in Verbindung mit dieser.
