Die Begriffe sind systematisch geordnet und nach Stahlerzeugnissen in Gruppen eingeteilt: nach Form und Maßen (z.B. Flacherzeugnisse, Langerzeugnisse, schwerer Formstahl) und nach Aussehen und Oberflächenzustand (z.B. oberflächenveredelte Flacherzeugnisse, Blankstahlerzeugnisse). Im Anhang dieser Norm ist ein alphabetisches Stichwortverzeichnis in Form einer Gegenüberstellung der deutschen, englischen und französischen Benennungen der einzelnen Fachwörter enthalten.
