Diese ÖNORM legt nationale Parameter zur ÖNORM EN 1991-1-3 fest und ist für Österreich gemeinsam mit der ÖNORM EN 1991-1-3 anzuwenden. Dynamische Schneelasten (Lawineneinwirkungen), wie z.B. für Lawinenschutzbauten benötigt, werden durch diese ÖNORM nicht erfasst. Nähere Informationen sind bei den örtlichen Behördenvertretern (Forsttechnischer Dienst für Wild-bach- und Lawinenverbauung) einzuholen (siehe dazu Anhang D). Lawineneinwirkungen für andere Bauwerke werden durch diese ÖNORM nicht erfasst. Jedenfalls sind sie als außergewöhnliche Belastungssituation gemäß ÖNORM EN 1990 anzusetzen. Die atmosphärische Vereisung von Tragwerken ist gemäß ISO 12494 zu berücksichtigen. Für Starkstromfreileitungen bestehen eigene technische Bestimmungen (gemäß ÖVE-L 1 und ÖVE-L 11).
