Diese Richtlinie befasst sich mit Elektrowärmepumpen, insbesondere zur Versorgung von Wohngebäuden mit Wärme für Raumheizung und Trinkwarmwasserbereitung. Um den technischen Fortschritt (z.B. andere Kältemittel, andere Verdichtertechnologien, Leistungsregelung) für die Berechnung der Jahresarbeitszahl besser abzubilden, wurden auf Basis der Ergebnisse der Feldmonitoringprojekte des Fraunhofer ISE wichtige Erkenntnisse aus der Praxis in die Berechnungen übernommen. Die Richtlinie behandelt zusätzlich Themen wie Hocheffizienzpumpen, leistungsgeregelte Wärmepumpen, Trinkwassererwärmung (geändertes Berechnungsverfahren), Solarunterstützung, Kühlung, primärenergetische Bewertung sowie Anpassungen aufgrund geänderter europäischer Normen.
