In der Neufassung der Richtlinie sind die geänderten internationalen Normen berücksichtigt und die Aspekte der Energieeffizienz umfangreicher beschrieben. Die Anforderungen an Technikzentralen sind nicht mehr Bestandteil dieser Richtlinie, siehe dazu VDI 2050.
