(1) Eurocode 3 applies to the design of buildings and civil engineering works in steel. It complies with the principles and requirements for the safty and serviceability of stuctures, the basis of their design and verification that are given in EN 1990 - Basis of stucturel design. (2) Eurocode 3 is concerned only with requirements for resistance, seviceability, durability and fire resistance of steel structures. Other requirements, e.g. concerning thermal and sound insulation, are not covered.
