Diese ÖVGW-Richtlinie beschreibt jene Maßnahmen und Voraussetzungen, die vom Wasserversorgungsunternehmen (im folgenden WVU genannt) bei der Bereitstellung von Löschwasser zu berücksichtigen sind. Mit Hilfe dieser Richtlinie können Richtwerte für den Löschwasserbedarf - Grundschutz ermittelt werden. Weiters behandelt diese ÖVGW-Richtlinie technische und hygienische Anforderungen an die Planung, den Bau und den Betrieb von Löschwasseranlagen innerhalb von Gebäuden und Grundstücken nach der Übergabestelle des WVU im Verantwortungsbereich des Betreibers der Löschwasseranlage im Rahmen des Objektschutzes.
