Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM gilt für die Konstruktion, Kennzeichnung und Prüfanforderungen für portable Brennstoffzellen-Energiesysteme. Diese Brennstoffzellen-Energiesysteme sind bewegbar und nicht fixiert oder auf andere Weise an einen speziellen Ort gebunden. Der Zweck portabler Brennstoffzellen-Energie-systeme ist die Abgabe elektrischer Leistung. Diese Norm gilt für portable Brennstoffzellen-Energiesysteme vom Typ Wechsel- und Gleichstrom mit einer Bemessungsausgangsspannung von nicht mehr als AC 600 V oder DC 850 V für den Einsatz innerhalb geschlossener Räume sowie im Freien. Diese portablen Brennstoffzellen-Energiesysteme dürfen nicht an gefahrbringenden Orten nach IEV 426-03-01 verwendet werden, es sei denn, es werden zusätzliche Schutzmaßnahmen nach IEC 60079-0 getroffen.
