Diese Norm legt Begriffe, Einteilungen, kennzeichnende Merkmale und Prüfanforderungen für Gehäuse fest, die zur Verwendung für z. B. Schaltgerätekombinationen nach IEC 61439 (alle Teile) mit einer Bemessungs-spannung von höchstens 1 000 V AC oder 1 500 V DC zur allgemeinen Anwendung im Innenraum oder für Freiluftaufstellung verwendet werden sollen.
