Dieser Teil von ÖVE/ÖNORM EN 62149 enthält die Betriebsverhaltensnorm für optische, monolithisch integrierte Modulatoren mit Laserdioden für Mehrkanal-Anwendungen von 2,5 Gbit/s bis 40 Gbit/s in LWL-Übertragungs-systemen. Die Betriebsverhaltensnorm enthält die festgelegten Anforderungen an das Betriebsverhalten des Produkts und eine Reihe von Prüfungen und Messungen mit eindeutig festgelegten Bedingungen, Prüfschärfen und Annahme-/Ausfallkriterien. Die Prüfungen sind als Erstprüfungen der Konstruktion zum Nachweis der Fähigkeit des Produktes vorgesehen, die Anforderungen der Betriebsverhaltensnorm zu erfüllen. Diese Norm gilt nur für digitale Amplitudenmodulation (On-Off-Keying).
