Diese Internationale Norm legt die Sicherheitsanforderungen für Entladungslampen (ausgenommen Leuchtstofflampen) fest, die allgemeinen Beleuchtungszwecken dienen. Diese Internationale Norm gilt für Natriumdampf-Niederdrucklampen und für Hochdruckentladungslampen (HID-Lampen), d. h. Quecksilberdampf-Hochdrucklampen (einschließlich Mischlichtlampen), Natriumdampf-Hochdrucklampen und Halogen-Metalldampflampen. Sie ist anwendbar auf ein- und zweiseitig gesockelte Lampen mit Sockeln wie im Anhang A aufgelistet.
