Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM beschreibt Verfahren zur Prüfung von Materialien und Kleidungsstücken für hitzebeständige und flammhemmende Schutzkleidung für Personen, die elektrischen Lichtbögen ausgesetzt sind. Im Unterschied zu den Prüfverfahren in ÖVE/ÖNORM EN 61482-1-11) wird ein gerichteter Prüflichtbogen in einem Niederspannungsstromkreis verwendet, um Material und Kleidung in definierte Lichtbogen-Schutzklassen einzuordnen. Die in diesem Dokument beschriebenen Prüfverfahren dienen dazu, festzustellen, ob Schutz gegen die thermischen Gefahren eines Lichtbogens unter den definierten Bedingungen besteht. Es werden zwei Schutzklassen geprüft. Die Schutzklassen 1 und 2 stellen Sicherheitsanforderungen dar, die tatsächliche potentielle Risiken durch Störlichtbögen abdecken.
