Diese ÖVD/ÖNORM gilt für induktive und kapazitive Näherungsschalter, die die Anwesenheit von Objekten aus Metall und/oder nicht metallenen Objekten erfassen, Ultraschallnäherungsschalter, die die Anwesenheit von schallreflektierenden Objekten erfassen, fotoelektrische Näherungsschalter, die die Anwesenheit von Gegenständen erfassen, und nichtmechanisch-magnetische Näherungsschalter, die die Anwesenheit von Objekten mit einem magnetischen Feld erfassen. Diese Näherungsschalter bilden eine Einheit, enthalten Halbleiterschaltelemente und sind für den Einsatz in Stromkreisen vorgesehen, deren Bemessungsspannung AC 250 V 50/60 Hz oder DC 300 V nicht überschreitet. Diese Norm gilt nicht für Näherungsschalter mit analogen Ausgängen.
