Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM enthält einen Leitfaden zu den Faktoren, die die Gefahr durch toxische Stoffe bei Bränden unter Beteiligung elektrotechnischer Produkte betreffen, und liefert Angaben zu den Methoden, die von ISO/TC 92 (SC 3) zur Beurteilung und Verringerung der Gefahr durch toxische Stoffe bei Bränden empfohlen und in ISO 19706, ISO 13344 und ISO 13571 beschrieben werden. Es gibt keine einzelne Prüfung für die realistische Beurteilung der Gefahr durch toxische Stoffe bei Bränden. Kleinbrandversuche zur Bestimmung des toxischen Potenzials eignen sich allein nicht zur Beurteilung der Gefahr durch toxische Stoffe bei Bränden. Diese Sicherheitsgrundnorm ist vorgesehen für die Anwendung durch Technische Komitees bei der Erarbeitung von Normen in Übereinstimmung mit den Grundlagen, die im IEC-Leitfaden 104 und im ISO/IEC-Leitfaden 51 festgelegt sind.
