Sie stellt auch eine Anleitung für die Anwendung von ALARMSYSTEMEN bereit.Der Zweck dieser Norm ist es, Festlegungen der Basissicherheit und der wesentlichen Leistungsmerkmale sowie Prüfungen für ALARMSYSTEME von MEDIZINISCHEN ELEKTRISCHEN GERÄTEN und MEDIZINISCHEN ELEKTRISCHEN SYSTEMEN zu beschreiben und zusätzlich Anleitung für ihre Anwendung zu geben. Dies wird erreicht durch die Definition von Alarm-Kategorien (Prioritäten) nach dem Grad der Dringlichkeit, konsistenten ALARMSIGNALEN und konsistenten Kontrollbedingungen und deren Kennzeichnung für alle ALARMSYSTEME.
