Diese Produktnorm gilt für beliebige schnurlose Kommunikationsgeräte, die zur Verwendung mit der abstrahlenden Struktur (der Geräte) in unmittelbarer Nähe (d. h. in einem Abstand von weniger als 200 mm) zum menschlichen Körper vorgesehen sind, wobei Geräte, die vor dem Gesicht betrieben werden, einbezogen sind. Der Frequenzbereich 30 MHz bis 6 GHz wird erfasst. Zweck dieser Norm ist, für diese Geräte die Übereinstimmung mit den in Bezug auf die Sicherheit von Personen in hochfrequenten elektromagnetischen Feldern in öffentlichen Bereichen festgelegten Basisgrenzwerten nachzuweisen. Geräte, die in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Ohr verwendet werden, werden durch EN 50360 erfasst.
