Diese Europäische Norm enthält allgemeine Anforderungen an Bauweise, Prüfung und Betriebsverhalten und beschreibt die Prüfverfahren für tragbare, transportable und ortsfeste elektrische Geräte für die Messung der Sauerstoffkonzentration von Gasgemischen mit einem Messbereich bis zu 25 % (V/V). Die Geräte oder Teile davon können zum Einsatz in explosionsgefährdeten Bereichen und in schlagwettergefährdeten Bergwerken vorgesehen sein. Beim Spülen mit inerten Gasen (Inertisierung) findet diese Europäische Norm auch Anwendung auf Geräte mit einer Sauerstoff-Messfunktion für den Explosionsschutz.
