This Austrian Standard (ÖNORM) defines requirements and test methods for wheel slide protection control devices based on ÖNORM EN 16662-1 that are intended for use on vehicles of the classes M1, N1, O1 and O2 according to § 3 of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1967 and that, if used as intended, provide a minimum of slide protection.
The requirements for self-monitoring (factory production control) are specified in normative Annex A and the recommended conformity criteria in informative Annex B.
This ÖNORM does not apply to conventional snow chains. The requirements to be met by snow chains for the wheels of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles and trailers are laid down in ÖNORM V 5117.
