ÖNORM S 5280-2

This Austrian Standard may be used for planning and construction of new buildings intended for habitation, working and residence purposes (e.g. dwelling houses, schools, kindergartens, workplaces). The present ÖNORM provides the planning and construction experts with a summary of available information concerning precautionary measures ageinst radon, according to the state of knowledge and of technology as of today. The use of methods and materials mentioned here requires technical know-how in the field of building construction. The objective of this ÖNORM is to define the requirements for conceptual, building and technical measures to prevent enhanced indoor exposure to radon within new buildings; to mention proven and tested methods and materials in civil engineering suitable to avoid exposure to radon; to specify criteria for the determination of the effect and assurance of the efficiency of the precautionary measures taken.
