The present Austrian Standard specifies requirements for and the design of signs used for ropeways for transport of persons (funicular railways, cable railways with pendulum or circulation service, chair railways, chair lifts) and for ski-lifts. The specifications of this ÖNORM do not cover areas where the road traffic regulations are applicable or which concern occupational safety, transport of dangerous goods or fire protection. NOTE- For better emphasis within wide-area guiding systems, other writing systems or coloured background may be used for indications if this supports the orientation of the viewer and does not affect the legibility of the information. Crossed out symbols representing prohibition signs shall not impede the identification of these symbols
