Diese ÖNORM ist nur in Verbindung mit den ÖNORMEN S 1800 und S 1801 anzuwenden. Das Prüfverfahren ist geeignet zur Bestimmung der Anteile binärer Mischungen von entbasteter Maulbeerseide mit Wolle. Für Mischungen von nicht entbasteter Maulbeerseide oder von Tussahseide mit Wolle ist das Verfahren nicht anwendbar. Das Verfahren unterscheidet sich von dem in ÖNORM S 1808 beschriebenen Verfahren in der Einwaage, der Behandlungsdauer und dem Spülen des Rückstandes.
