This part of the ÖNORM M 8127 deals with basic priciples, test assembly and test machine in order to determine and asses the noise testing of rolling bearing greases according to ÖNORM M 8127-2 and -3. This ÖNORM applies to rolling bearing greases, these are specially manufactured greases of NLGI grades 1 to 3 for the lubrication of rolling bearings according to DIN 51818. The grease noise testing according to this ÖNORM allows the grease manufacturers to develop low-noise lubricants with high damping properties. However, it shall also support bearing manufacturers in the selection of low-noise greases with high damping properties. The present ÖNORM is primarily intended for testing of fresh fats.
