The method described in this ÖNORM is for the determination of mineral nitrogen (Nmin) in the soil at the time of sampling. The subject of this ÖNORM is sampling, extraction and conventional determination methods. For environment-related tasks, eg assessment of leaching vulnerable to nitrate, this method is directly applicable, but to be interpreted typical of the location. For agricultural purposes, such as dimensioning of nitrogen fertilization, the method can only be used together with site-specific field tests to determine the "target values".
