This ÖNORM is to be used for the determination of the mass fractions of particle size classes of the mineral soil with particle sizes < 2 mm. The mass fractions of the fine soil include the particle size classes sand (S), silt (U) and clay (T). This method is applicable up to a 5% humus content of 5% without humus destruction. Depending on the problem and the soil, a humus destruction may be required for a mass fraction of between 5% and 15%.
