The Austrian Standard defines the calculation method for the evaluation of the net energy usage for cooling. Based on the cooling demand system loses can be calculated with the aid of efficiency factors and user profiles. Common used cooling systems can be evaluated by their cooling energy usage with the help of this Austrian Standard. It also enables the calculation of active and passive cooling systems. Active cooling systems are characterized by the use of a cooling machine. Additionally it is possible to calculate compression refrigeration machines and absorption refrigeration machines. Passive cooling systems only use environmental energy. For this kind of systems the required auxiliary energy has to be calculated.
The results are used to complete the energy performance certificate according to OIB-RL 6 "Energieeinsparung und Wärmeschutz"
