Diese Vornorm legt ein Verfahren zur quantitativen Bestimmung von Saxitoxin und DC-Saxitoxin und zur qualitativen Bestimmung von Neo-Saxitoxin und den Gonyau-Toxinen (GTX-2 und GTX-3) in Muscheln fest. Das Verfahren kann auch zum Nachweis der N-Sulfocarbamoyltoxine nach Hydrolyse angewandt und bei Vorliegen dieser Toxine zum Ausschluss falsch positiver Ergebnisse für GTX-2, GTX-3, Neo-Saxitoxin und Saxitoxin verwendet werden.
