Dieser Teil von EN 993 beschreibt ein Heißdraht-Verfahren (Paralleldraht-Verfahren) zur Bestimmung der Wärmeleitfähigkeit von feuerfesten Erzeugnissen und Werkstoffen. Diese Norm ist anwendbar auf dichte und zur Isolation dienende geformte Erzeugnisse sowie auf pulverförmiges oder körniges Probengut mit einer Wärmeleitfähigkeit unter 25 W/(m.K). Die Grenzen sind durch die Maße der Probekörper vorgegeben; höhere Wärmeleitfähigkeiten können bei Verwendung größerer Probekörper gemessen werden. Elektrisch leitende Werkstoffe können nicht gemessen werden.
