Behandelt ist ein auf die Anforderungen von EN 29001 und EN 29002 (oder ähnlichen Normen) abgestimmtes Qualitätssicherungssystem für das Schweißen sowohl in Werkstätten als auch auf Baustellen. Vermittelt werden Hinweise zur Beschreibung eines Herstellers bezüglich seiner Fähigkeit, geschweißte Konstruktionen in vorgeschriebener Qualität anzufertigen. Diese Hinweise können auch als Grundlage für die Anerkennung des Qualitätssicherungssystems eines Herstellers für das Schweißen angewendet werden. Die getroffenen Festlegungen sind geeignet für die Aufnahme in einen Vertrag zwischen den beteiligten Parteien, für eine Anwendungsnorm oder in eine regelsetzende Anforderung, wenn der Beweis für die Fähigkeit eines Herstellers gefordert wird, geschweißte Konstruktionen in festgelegter Qualität herzustellen.
