Es wird beschrieben, wie die Eignung einer Schweißanweisung durch Verfahrensprüfung festgestellt werden kann. Die Bedingungen für die Durchführung der Schweißverfahrensprüfung werden angegeben, Prüfumfang, Probestücke und Probenlage sind festgelegt. Schärfere Prüfanordnungen, z. B. durch Anwendungsnormen, sind zu berücksichtigen. Die Grenzen der Gültigkeit eines geeigneten Schweißverfahrens für alle praktischen Tätigkeiten sind innerhalb des Bereiches von definierten Einflußgrößen festgelegt. Die Norm gilt für das Lichtbogenschweißen von Stahl und umfaßt die folgenden Verfahren: Metall-Lichtbogenschweißen (ohne Gasschutz), Unterpulverschweißen, Metall-Schutzgasschweißen, Wolfgram-Schutzgasschweißen und Plasmaschweißen.
