Die Norm enthält ergänzend zu den in prEN 288 Teil 1 enthaltenen allgemeinen Festlegungen Anleitungen zur Erstellung einer Schweißanweisung für das Lichtbogenschweißen von metallischen Werkstoffen. Die hiezu erforderlichen technischen Angaben sowie Angaben bezogen auf Herstellung und Grundwerkstoff werden behandelt. Zulässige Schweißverfahren im allgemeinen, sowie besondere Anforderungen für die Verfahren Metall-Lichtbogenschweißen (ohne Gasschutz), Unterpulverschweißen, Metall-Schutzgasschweißen, Wolfgram-Schutzgasschweißen und Plasmaschweißen werden beschrieben. Der Vordruck für die Schweißanweisung des Herstellers (WPS- Vordruck) wird zur Verwendung empfohlen.
