Diese Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Schwefelgehaltes von Nickel und Ferronickel im Bereich von 0,001 % bis 0,3 % (m/m) und von Nickellegierungen im Bereich von 0,001 % bis 0,1 % (m/m) durch Infrarotabsorption nach Verbrennung fest. Es kann möglich sein, dieses Verfahren auch auf den Bereich 0,0002 % bis 0,001 % (m/m) anzuwenden. Dafür gibt es jedoch nur unzureichende Daten der Laborprüfung, sodaß die Einbeziehung dieses niedrigen Gehalts in die Laborprüfung nicht befürwortet wird.
