footwear for use by firefighters for fire suppression, general-purpose rescue, fire rescue and hazardous
materials emergencies.
This standard does not cover special personal protective equipment used in high-risk situations (for example,
the conditions described in ISO 15538).
NOTE 1 Selection of the type of footwear (see 4.3 and Tables 3 and 4) for firefighters should be made following a
comprehensive risk assessment (see Annex A).
