This European Standard applies to machines for the production of paper and board, including head box, wire
section (former), press section, drying section, film size press, coating unit, flotation and infrared dryer, smoothing
unit, integrated calender, measuring device, reel-up, integrated sheeter, drives and control system (paper and
board making machines) and applies together with EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010. It deals with all significant hazards,
hazardous situations and hazard events relevant to machines for the production of paper and board, when used as
intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer (see Clause 4).
This document does not deal with pressure hazards in steam-heated drying cylinders.
