ÖNORM EN 10245-1 legt die Anforderungen an die Eigenschaften und die Prüfverfahren von Beschichtungen aus organischen Beschichtungsstoffen auf Stahldraht und Drahterzeugnissen mit rundem oder anderem Querschnitt fest. Andere absichtlich oder unabsichtlich aufgebrachten organischen Beschichtungsstoffe, wie Öle, Fette, Wachse, temporäre Oberflächenausführungen usw., die keinen dauerhaften, integralen Teil des beschichteten Drahterzeugnisses bilden, sind nicht Gegenstand dieser Norm. Die Norm EN 10245 besteht aus mehreren Teilen, von denen Teil 1 die Anforderungen allgemeiner Art erfasst und für organische Beschichtungen und Beschichtungsstoffe gilt, für die in den nachfolgenden Teilen von EN 10245 keine besonderen Anforderungen festgelegt sind.
