Diese Norm gilt für die Anforderungen und Maßnahmen zur Erzielung des Funktionserhaltes von elektrischen Kabelanlagen im Brandfall. Der Anwendungsbereich ist auf Kabel mit Nennspannungen bis 1 kV beschränkt. Der nach dieser Norm beurteilte Funktionserhalt von Kabelanlagen deckt nicht einen Spannungsabfall bzw. eine reduzierte Strombelastbarkeit durch temperaturbedingte Widerstandserhöhung aufgrund behinderter Wärmeabfuhr der Leiter ab.
