Diese ÖNORM ist im Zusammenhang mit der ÖNORM B 5320 für die Ausführung der Bauanschlussfugen von Fenstern, Fenstertüren und Toren und deren Kombinationen, in der Folge kurz "Fenster-Einbauteil" genannt, die in Gebäuden oder Räumen liegen, die dem dauernden oder vorübergehenden Aufenthalt von Menschen dienen, anzuwenden. Grundsätzlich ist eine visuelle Prüfung der Bauanschlussfuge ausreichend. Bei feststellbaren Mängeln ist eine messtechnische Überprüfung sinnvoll. Bei Fenstertausch im Altbau ist eine Musterausführung vorteilhaft. Der Schwerpunkt dieser Norm liegt auf der Prüfung der fertig gestellten Bauanschlussfuge unter Anwendung baupraktisch bewährter Anforderungswerte, welche von Laborprüfungen abgeleitet wurden. Die Methoden sind auch zur Prüfung erst einzusetzender Materialien heranziehbar.
