ÖNORM B 5175

The present ÖNORM specifies general requirements for multi-layer composite piping systems made of plastics with media-contacted, metallic inner layer for the hot and cold water installation inside buildings. The document is valid irrespective of whether water is used for human purposes (domestic installation) or for heating systems - taking into account the applicable permissible operating pressure and the temperatures applicable for the respective application classes). Applications include hot water supply, underfloor heating and connections to radiators for low temperature and high temperature. Furthermore, this document contains terms and definitions, rules on nominal diameters, dimensions, test methods as well as the self-monitoring of such piping systems and gives advice for the conformity assessment. This ÖNORM does not include - multi-layer composite pipes, which have an inner layer of plastic (see ÖNORM EN ISO 21003-2), - tubes with an outer diameter in the range of 6 mm to 267 mm made of stainless (with the exception of martensitic and precipitation hardening) steels according to ÖNORM EN 10088-2, with a wall thickness of at least 0.6 mm (depending on the nominal diameter) (see ÖNORM EN 10312), - tubes with an outside diameter in the range of 6 mm to 267 mm made of copper and copper alloys with a wall thickness of at least 0.5 mm (depending on the nominal diameter) (see ÖNORM EN 1057).
