This ÖNORM describes test methods to determine frost susceptibility of natural aggregate mixtures for unbound and hydraulically bound base and top layers in road and airfield construction. To aggregates consisting in part or in total of recycled aggregates of non-natural origin or which were industrially changed (concrete, asphalt, chrushed bricks) clause 6.2 an 7 of this ÖNORM do not apply. For specific problems (e.g. geological questions, construction of waste disposal facilities) the content of fines (i. e. clay) may also be tested on deviating particle sizes.
