Diese ÖNORM legt ein Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung der einaxialen Druckfestigkeit eines quadratischen oder zylindrischen, homogenen Probekörpers aus ungestörtem oder aufbereitetem kohäsivem Boden fest. Soll aus der einaxialen Druckfestigkeit die undränierte Kohäsion bzw. die undränierte Scherfestigkeit errechnet werden, muss der Probenkörper wassergesättigt sein und eine ausreichend geringe Durchlässigkeit aufweisen, um sich während der Prüfung hinreichend undräniert zu verhalten, damit keine Entwässerung der Probe während der Prüfung im Rahmen von geotechnischen Untersuchungen gemäß ÖNORM EN 1997-1 und ÖNORM EN 1997-2 stattfindet.
