Die Norm ist für die zeichnerische Darstellung der Ergebnisse von Aufschlüssen durch Schürfe und Bohrungen in Locker- und Festgesteinsarten einschließlich des Gesteinszustandes, der Trennflächen und der Wasserverhältnisse anzuwenden. Diese Darstellungsart ist sinngemäß auch für Schnittzeichnungen und Karten anzuwenden. Um ein möglichst vollständiges Bild der Aufschlußergebnisse zu erhalten, sind die Schürf- und Bohrprotokolle gemäß Teil 3 der ÖNORM B 4401 heranzuziehen, da es nicht immer möglich ist, alle Ergebnisse und Daten zeichnerisch darzustellen.
