Diese ÖNORM gibt den für die Aufnahme von Erdbebeneinwirkungen erforderlichen Nachweis der Tragsicherheit (in Abhängigkeit von Bauwerks-Bewertungsfaktor und Schwingungsanfälligkeit) für Bauwerke an. Die ÖNORM B 4015 gilt - so wie im Allgemeinen alle Neufassungen von Baunormen - für die Errichtung neuer Bauwerke. Für Bauwerke, von denen im Falle einer Beschädigung durch Erdbeben über die unmittelbare Bauwerksumgebung hinausreichende Gefahren ausgehen (Talsperren, Produktionsanlagen für gefährliche Güter, Kernkraftwerke und ähnliche Anlagen), sind zusätzlich zu dieser ÖNORM weitere Untersuchungen anzustellen.
