Die Norm ist für alle jene Bauwerke bzw. in Sonderfällen auch Bauwerksteile anzuwenden, für welche aufgrund der Erfahrung an bisher ausgeführten Bauwerken eine Schwingungsanfälligkeit zu erwarten ist. Die Norm enthält Berechnungsverfahren für böenerregte Schwingungen, für Wirbelresonanz- und für Flatterschwingungen. Ein Anhang enthält eine Auflistung aller erfahrungsgemäß für die einzelnen Schwingungsarten anfälligen Bauwerke und Bauteile, ein weiterer Anhang Dämpfungsdekremente für Baustoffe, Konstruktionen und Gründungen, und ein dritter Anhang führt die Kriterien für das Auftreten von bewegungsinduzierten Biegeschwingungen und von Schwingungen durch Interferenzeinfluß an. Zur Erleichterung der Anwendung dieser ÖNORM sind im Beiblatt 1 Berechnungsbeispiele angeführt.
