The present ÖNORM describes the measures needed for the planning and execution of the dismantling of buildings and specifies separation priniciples for the different materials in regard to recovery or disposal. The dismantling objective is to obtain mono-material mostly free of harmful substances and impurities. If ecologically appropriate, technically possible and not unreasonably cost-intensive, the waste products of the dismantling process shall be recovered. Harmful substances and impurities have to be examined and separated to obtain recyclable mono-fraction demolition materials.
The present ÖNORM describes the dismantling in structural and civil engineering including line construction works and paved area. For dealing with asbestos-containing material please see ÖNORM M 9406.
