This standard applies to pipes and fittings made of ductile cast iron for transport
- of water for human consumption;
- of water if drinking water suitability is required (e.g. for areas of application such as fire fighting, snowmaking and irrigation or for hydropower plants);
- of different types of water, if this is subsequently intended for human use (e.g. raw water, treated water, treated water).
This standard must be used together with ÖNORM EN 545. It contains additional provisions regarding the suitability for drinking water, the connections and the surface protection, which are not covered in ÖNORM EN 545. Recommended conformity criteria are also given in informative Appendix A.
Pipe saddles for pipe connections are not the subject of this document.
