ÖNORM B 1997-2

This ÖNORM defines requirements for geotechnical investigations and supports the implementation of ÖNORM EN 1997-2. These standards shall be applied jointly. This ÖNORM applies to geotechnical investigations of soil and rock as subsoil and construction material for all types of construction works, including underground constructions, construction of landfills and remediation of contaminated soils. For cavernous underground constructions deviations from the present ÖNORM are permissible, if sufficiently justified. This ÖNORM doesn't apply to mining, testing of rock as a construction product and the exploration of raw material deposits. This ÖNORM contains requirements concerning design, execution and evaluation of geotechnical investigations and should ensure that soil or rock properties of the subsoil are known when designing the geotechnical structure.
