ÖNORM B 1993-4-3

This Austrian Standard specifies national parameters for ÖNORM EN 1993-4-3 and shall be applied in Austria jointly with ÖNORM EN 1993-4-3. Together with ÖNORM EN 1993-4-3, this Austrian Standard covers the following subject fields: complementary rules for the use of steel pipes for pipeline construction (water supply, wastewater technology, gas supply, district heating pipelines, industrial pipelines, petroleum and natural gas industry) for seismic design and for underground pipelines with plastic structure behaviour (areas with and without settlement, crossing of dikes, roads, railways, channels). In addition, Clause 6 gives specifications for the construction and dimensioning of steel pipelines under pressure intended for headrace pipelines of small power plants or used for water transport of installations (such as snowmaking equipment) for public purposes. The scope of specifications is limited to operational pressure up to 64 bar and to diameters under DN 1500 (mm). Another principle is that the pressure (in bar) multiplied by the diameter (in mm) shall not exceed the value of 20,000 (bar . mm). These regulations can be applied provided that the Water Right Authority does not require a separate approval procedure of the power plant with special provisions. Pipelines of high pressure installations are not dealt with by this Austrian Standard.
