Diese ÖNORM regelt nur die - für Österreich notwendigen - zusätzlichen Sicherheitsbestimmungen für alle Bauformen von Toren und verweist in den Anforderungen auf bereits fertig gestellte Europäische Normen. Die allgemeinen Anforderungen an Tore sind in der ÖNORM EN 13241-1 geregelt. Die vorliegende ÖNORM enthält ergänzende Bestimmungen für alle Arten von Toren und kraftbetätigten Türen (durch Türschließer ausgeführte Torbewegungen gelten im Sinne dieser Norm nicht als kraftbetätigt), die in der Folge als "ore" bezeichnet werden. Zusätzlich gilt für Feuerschutzabschlüsse die ÖNORM B 3852 und für Rauchschutzabschlüsse die ÖNORM B 3853. Ferner sind die Maschinensicherheitsverordnung (Risikoanalyse), Arbeitsmittel-Verordnung, die Arbeitsstättenverordnung und die Bauordnungen zu beachten.
