Dieses Merkblatt "Grünschnittkompostierung" bezieht sich auf pflanzlich organische Abfälle im Wege der Abfallsammlung, die z.B. von privaten oder öffentlichen Garten- bzw. Grünflächen oder von Friedhöfen stammen.
Die Grünschnittkompostierung (im Sinn des vorliegenden Merkblattes) ist eine Abfallbehandlung im Anwendungsbereich des Abfallwirtschaftsgesetzes.
Das bedeutet, dass eine Befähigung sowie eine Genehmigung zur Abfallsammlung notwendig sind und die Kompostanlage zur Abfallbehandlung behördlich genehmigt sein muss. Dazu gibt es zwei Varianten, welche in diesem Merkblatt beschrieben sind: die Ausnahmeregelung für Kleinmengen und den Standardfall.
