Die Europäischen Normen zur Überwachung gasförmiger Ableitungen auf radioaktive Belastungen verweisen bezüglich der Probenahme auf ISO 2889. Die Empfehlungen dieser Norm beziehen sich sowohl auf die Probenahme für den Nachweis der Einhaltung der gesetzlichen Grenzwerte als auch zur Überwachung der Systeme. Wenn bestehende Probenahmesysteme nicht entsprechend den Leistungsanforderungen und Empfehlungen dieser Norm ausgelegt wurden, wird eine Evaluierung der Leistungsfähigkeit des Systems empfohlen.
