Dieser Teil der IEC 60404 beschreibt Verfahren zur Messung der magnetischen Wechselfeld-Eigenschaften von weichmagnetischen Werkstoffen, außer Elektrostahlen und Weichferriten, bei Frequenzen im Bereich 20 Hz bis 100 kHz. Die in diesemTeil der IEC 60404 abgedeckten Werkstoffe schließen jene speziellen Legierungen ein, die in IEC 60404-8-6 aufgelistet sind, amorphe und nanokristalline weichmagnetische Werkstoffe, gepresste und gesinterte und metallische Spritzgussteile, wie sie in IEC 60404-8-9 aufgeführt sind, sowie Gussteile und weichmagnetische Verbundwerkstoffe.
